Recruiting Report: Koby Isaac (2019)
Soon, Koby Isaac could be one of Georgia’s hottest 2019 prospects, and the 6-foot-3 combo-guard is hoping that he can turn some of his current D1 interest into offers.
The Westlake junior is enjoying a fantastic season with the Lions, and is just a few months removed from what will be a tremendously important 17U offseason.
Isaac mentioned the Division I interest he’s been seeing, and says there’s two schools in particular he feels are after him the most.
“Florida State has been recruiting me real hard, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee State, Villanova, Wichita State. Those are the schools that are coming after me hard,” said Isaac.
“Florida State had come to some workouts before the season started, and I recently went on a visit there and watched a practice and talked to their coaches. And Georgia Tech called me on the morning that coaches were allowed to call players last summer. So I feel like them and Florida State are coming after me the hardest.”
A slasher with an ability to score from all three levels, Isaac mentioned what his strengths are as a guard, and some areas he’s working to improve.
“My strengths are getting into the defense and getting into the middle of the paint to hit a floater or a jump-shot. I’m also good at shooting the 3-ball,” said Isaac.
“I need to work on my strength, and just get into the weight-room more. And I need to work on my conditioning and just get in better shape overall.”
His Lions have been enjoying some success lately after a tough start to the season. Isaac had a breakout game during a winning-streak when he scored 19 points in fourth quarter and overtime to help beat Tucker.
“We’ve been doing pretty well. We had a tough start, we lost a lot of main players from last year. But we recently had a five game win-streak and we’re turning things around,” said Isaac.
“I think I’ve been playing well. I’ve been getting my teammates involved, trying to make them better. But my main goal is to win the state championship and get a ring. And another goal this year is to get an offer. I’ve got lots of interest but no offers.”
