Recruiting Report: Johnny Roeser (2019)
Carmel 2019 wing Johnny Roeser is a rangy 6’5” small forward that plays mostly on the interior for his high school team. He gets on the glass and finishes around the cup with short jump shots. Also makes threes off the catch. Skilled wing that has versatility to his game. Shows more on the circuit his point-forward abilities to handle the ball and pass. Right now projects as a D2 prospect with the chance to elevate with a big spring on the Illinois Wolves.
How is the high school season going with Carmel?
“I think I am playing pretty good. I have had to adapt my role because we have three people scoring double figures. I am playing well.”
He noted a couple areas he has made significant improvements.
“Rebounding is a big one. I am defending a lot better.”
How was his 16U summer with the Wolves?
“I feel like it went good. We went to the finals of the UAA which is a pretty big accomplishment.”
Roeser chatted about the skills he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I can bring defense and be like a point forward. I can be just a shooting guard because I am working on my shooting. I can bring the ball up and make plays for my teammates.”
One college program has started to pick up their interest level.
“Holy Cross has been talking to me. That is the main school that has been talking to me. I went out there for a camp and I like the feel of it.”
