Recruiting Report: Jabali Leonard (2018)
Meadowdale senior Jabali Leonard (2018) has been a top player in the Dayton City League during his time with the Lions. An all-around talented 2-guard, Jabali excels as a shooter and is a major piece in the Lions offense.
Individually, Jabali has been having a tremendous season. Averaging 23.1 points per game, Jabali scores most his points from behind the arc. A 60% 3-point shooter for the season thus far, Leonard has been a specialist for the Lions in his past times with the varsity team. However, this year his role shifted from a specialist to a court leader.
“As a senior I feel that I have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders at Meadowdale. I feel like there’s pressure on me from my teammates who look up to me and view me as a role model”.
Not only can he score, but Leonard also has proven to be a force to reckon with on the boards; averaging over 7 rebounds per game. Overall, he is a very strong and athletic shooting guard that will excel as a sharp-shooter in college.
One area where he still wants to improve is his pull up shot in the lane. In past games, Jabali has shown he can get to the rim as well as his three point shot, but the midrange shot will be needed for him to be able to excel at the collegiate level.
Currently, Jabali is being heavily recruited by Wabash College and Bluffton, both Division 3 schools, and also has interest from Division 2 schools as well. His goal is to continue to pick up interest at the D2 level and also from the D1 level as well.
