Recruiting Report: El Ellis 2019
One of the top players this past weekend at the January Jam Fest was 2019 guard, Elbert Ellis of Mt. Zion. In his game against Millwood on Saturday he finished with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Ellis is a player that can really get to the basket well and he got most of his points from around the rim when he drove to the bucket. He demonstrated that he can get his teammates involved when he is not scoring and that is what makes him a good floor general. He made a lot of open shots Saturday and we were very impressed with the pace of his play. Right now Ellis is currently slated 23rd in our North Carolina 2019 rankings.
Ellis currently has four scholarship offers from Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State, North Carolina Central and Charleston Southern. Ellis also informed us that a few schools are talking to him a lot that have not offered, ” a lot of schools are reaching out like Temple, Kansas State, UAB, UCF, College of Charleston and Illinois.”
When asked if he felt like a few schools are sticking out more than others he said, “Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State and Charleston Southern reach out a lot and Temple, they have been reaching out and they really like my game. Kansas State is going to come and see me soon and University Illinois has began to reach out also.”
He broke down his relationship with Eastern Kentucky with us, “We got a real good relationship, because I was in the 2018 class and I was going to go 2018 but I decided to reclassify to 2019.”
Kennesaw State is another school that has a really solid relationship with Ellis, “We have a real good relationship and I have been knowing about them for a really long time. They have been recruiting me ever since about the 10th grade so we have gotten pretty close.”
He also spoke about his relationship with Charleston Southern, “They actually offered me last month but they have been recruiting me ever since last year when I was in 2018 but when I got in 2019 they really got prioritizing me.”
Temple has yet to offer Ellis but they are in constant contact, “They came down to visit me last month and we were just talking about basketball, of course and just how good of a player I am and stuff like that.”
