Recruiting Report: Damari Nixon (2019)
Fenwick junior Damari Nixon is a lefty 6’1” shooting guard that is a slick scorer. Can handle the ball finding spaces to attack the defense. The plus athlete can get to the hoop both in transition and in the half court. Capable three point shooter especially off the catch. D2 prospect at this stage.
How does he feel he has played as a junior to date?
“I think I have played pretty good. I could have been a better facilitator early, but overall now that everything is clicking I can play my role better.”
Nixon compliments elite sophomore DJ Steward tremendously well in the backcourt. He spoke about the best assets in his game.
“My strengths are my quickness. I know I can get other people involved. I think my shooting is pretty good and I can attack the basket.”
On the circuit he found success playing with Chicago Select 16U last summer.
“It went pretty well. We won the Big Foot tournament in Las Vegas. We were able to compete against a national schedule.”
Several D1 programs are monitoring his progress early in the recruiting process.
“I have interest from Army West Point, Wright State, and Kent State.”
