Recruiting Report: Beau Bailey (2018)
Lakeville South senior Beau Bailey is a wing with potential and this year we’ve started to see some of that potential.
The South Cougars are 6-4 so far this year with a nice list of wins beating Eastview, Farmington, Rogers, and New Prague on the road (plus Shakopee and Brainerd at home) and losses to teams that were all ranked in the top ten when South played team.
“This season we are kind of up and down but we are starting to figure everything out,” Beau told Prep Hoops recently.
Bailey was right about the team figuring some things out, they’ve picked up crucial wins over Farmington and Eastview by strong margins. They have winnable games coming up with Eagan and Burnsville before the Lakeville North/Apple Valley back to back stretch of games.
Beau has become a more confident shooter which has led to him scoring a dozen points a game (on a team with four balanced double figure scorers).
“I’m shooting the ball a lot better and than I was last year,” Beau said. “We have three returning varsity players but we also have a lot of seniors. I think that we are good enough to not lose many games.”
South is in a very tough section with Rochester JM (10-1), Lakeville North (9-2), Farmington (7-4), New Prague (6-7), and Owatonna (6-4) all fighting for a good section position along with South.
Beau and his teammates hope they can best that group and make the state tournament.
“My individual goal is to play the best basketball I can and be a great defender,” Bailey said. “Our team goal is to make it to state, South hasn’t been there in a long time.”
A number of programs have become aware of how Bailey has improved and are now in contact.
“I’ve been in contact with Jamestown, Lake Region State, University of Maine at Fort Kent, St. John’s,” Bailey said. “I have not taken or planned any visits yet.”
