Recruiting Report: Ahron Ulis (2020)
Marian Catholic 6’1” 2019 Ahron Ulis point guard is a maestro controlling the tempo and getting others involved. Makes outstanding passes in transition, but is especially impressive in the half court getting it to his teammates in position to succeed. Ulis is a very high IQ guard that has an advanced feel for the game. Seems to put passes on the money over and over with his electric vision. As a scorer he is best in the open floor using his speed to get to the rack. Also a capable three point shooter that works well shooting with the ball in his hands coming off screens. He is an active defender cutting passing lanes and putting pressure on the ball. Ulis is a prospect that D1 programs should start to get familiar with in the 2020 class.
He spoke about his sophomore campaign at Marian Catholic.
“The season is going well. Here and there we have our ups and downs, but the goal is to win as many games as possible and make it as far as we can in the playoffs. I am playing well. Being more aggressive while still getting my team involved. Doing the best I can.”
He has noticed growth in his game this season.
“Getting to the rim easily because of me jumping higher. Also hitting the three. Last year I didn’t hit as many threes. My dad said I need to find my shot more while still creating for others.”
Early in games he is looking to set up his scorers.
“Most definitely. Setting up Malik (Tidwell) and Chris (White) because those are our top two scorers. Getting them involved early is my goal.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“My offer from DePaul along with letters from Iowa and Illinois State.”
He spoke with us about the DePaul offer and their program.
“I visited once. It was a great atmosphere. I like how Tim (Anderson) was my coach with Meanstreets. I like how he is coaching there and they are a good program.”
