Prospect Watch: Trokon Massey (2018)
Cooper forward Trokon Massey is a part of a core Hawks team that has the talent to put together a nice season.
To this point Cooper has beat the teams they expected to but lost close games to Maple Grove, Roosevelt, and White Bear Lake.
“So far the season has been going good,” Massey said about the 3-3 start. “We didn’t start out like we would have likes too but we can only go up from here and keep improving.”
Fellow senior Nathan Hill and juniors Jalen Miller and Jalen Justice have joined with Massey to all average double figures so far this year. Massey is scoring nearly a dozen points a contest.
“I have gotten a lot stronger physically and mentally, I have been finishing at the rim better and my free throw percentage and increased,” Trokon said. “I train at Gameface every week to prove my game they help me a lot this year with everything.”
Cooper has a four game stretch of beatable opponents but they will need to put together a solid team effort.
“My team has a lot of talent and a lot of heart and we have a good coach pushing us to be great and with our main players back like Jalen Justice and Jalen Miller and Nate Hill I think we can make a back run right now and in March,” Massey said.
“We are really a slept on team, no one gives us respect and that is what makes us go harder.”
“I’m trying to go all out this year and be conference champion and then move on from that next step and to win a championship for my city and my team. We are all on the same page and the coaches talk about this every day, what our mind is on, and that a team goal right there.”
Massey is considering a few different options for after high school.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of schools this spring and summer. A lot of D2 and low D1 schools contacted me but right now I think I will be going the prepschool route right now.
“I’ve been getting a lot of calls from prep schools but I will settle down and go though it with my family and coaches.”
