Prospect Spotlight: Trevor Keels (2021)
We knew that Paul Vi was going to be very talented and compete for the WCAC Championship this year behind 2018 Villanova commit Brandon Slater and highly recruited 2019 Anthony Harris and 2020 Jeremy Roach. With them, there has been a new member added to that great bunch for the Panthers. We are talking about 2021 Trevor Keels.
Keels is a 6’4 combo guard that has shown he can score the ball in a variety of ways. For only being a freshman in high school, he has a physical body which allows him to compete with a lot of kids two or even three years older than him. In his young varsity career he has already shown great signs of being patient, he doesn’t try to force a lot of stuff, he can pass well and he can score off the catch or drive to the rim and attack.
As a freshman on a very talented Paul VI team, he is enjoying himself and learning a lot, “The season is going good, we have only lost two games but we bounced back and we have won eight in a row so it has been a success and lots of fun so far.”
He has many talented teammates on his high school team but he mentioned that he has a special role on this team, “I need to make open shots, drive and kick, play defense and rebound the ball on both ends.”
After National Hoop Fest earlier in December, he received his first college offer from Wake Forest, “After we lost, I tried to keep my head up, we were walking off the court and my dad came up to me and said that Wake Forest had just offered me a scholarship so that was a really cool moment.”
When asked what other schools have been in contact with his family and coaches he said, “Maryland, Clemson and Virginia Tech.”
