Prospect Spotlight: Nick Edwards (2018)
Grayson High School has a long history of dynamic guards and continues this trend with Nick Edwards. After leading Grayson to its first Final Four appearance in school history last year, Edwards has his eye on the prize as the season draws to a close. “I hope we finish #1 going into the region tournament, then I want to win region,” he says. “Also, I hope we make it back to the Final Four. But this time, I want to make it all the way and win state!”
After earning all-region honors last season, Edwards has proven himself capable of leading Grayson to new heights. He is a quick guard that excels in transition with the uncanny ability to finish with either hand. The unsigned senior is averaging 15 points, 5 assists and 3 steals per game. Recently, he hit a game winning shot against Langston Hughes to go along with a team-high 24 points. Edwards also made the all-tournament team this season at the illustrious Tournament of Champions at Wheeler High School.
He spends his summers playing with Team Power AAU. When asked to describe his preferred style of play, he responded: “Fast pace. I love to get up and down the court.” The senior has no current offers but says that Eastern Florida State, Tusculum and Georgia Southwestern have all shown interest.
“I’m going to keep working hard, and prove everybody that’s doubted me wrong,” he says. As Grayson contends for its first state championship, Edwards could very soon open a lot of eyes.
