Kennedy freshman, Junior Alexander is already making noise at the high school level, and in more than one sport.
On the basketball court, the 6’2 guard has a crafty ability to create offense and score. The lefty has a great looking shot and can knock down 3’s from deep. On or off the dribble, Junior’s quick first step past defenders allows him to utilize his soft touch at the rim. But the most impressive part of Junior’s game is his court vision.
“My greatest strength is just getting my guys open and getting them the ball,” Junior stated.
His elusive playing style brings to mind a current NBA player that Junior happens to look towards.
“I look up to Kyrie Irving because of he’s very crafty and comes in clutch when he needs to,” said Junior.
Halfway through the season, Kennedy High School sits tied for 2nd in the NPSL 4A division. As a team, their goals aim much higher than just winning their division.
“Our goal is to at least make a state run and get in that tournament” Junior said, “I feel like our team could possible win state if we play together like we always do.”
The star-studded Kennedy team is young, and with Junior only being a freshman, they have many bright years to come.
Junior has yet to hear from any schools expressing interest in him at the college level. But being only a freshman, the recruiting process is still very early. However, the two-sport athlete has received attention from several schools for football. The kid’s future will be exciting to watch.
During the summer, Junior plays AAU ball for the Seattle Stars.
