Prospect Spotlight: Jeremy Roach (2020)
2020 point guard Jeremy Roach has been talked about nationally for a good while now and for good reasoning. He is in consideration for being the top ranked point guard in the 2020 class. Roach is a very explosive guard that can score the ball the ball in a variety ways. He attacks the basket hard and can finish very strongly at the rim with his quick burst and speed. Over the past year he is has worked on making his jumper more consistent and added some muscle too.
“I have definitely worked on my shooting since last year, of course getting into the paint more and I have worked on becoming a better leader.”
Roach and his teammates just got back from two holiday tournaments that were in South Carolina and then Georgia. They went 2-1 in South Carolina at the Chick-fil-A Classic and then won the championship game at the Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic in Georgia against Oak Ridge who had actually beat them earlier on in the year.
“It was a good trip, we went to 2-1 in South Carolina, lost the first one to Findlay Prep but picked it back up in the next two games and then we just got back from Georgia two days ago after beating Oak Ridge in the championship there.”
Roach came up big for Paul VI on Tuesday night in their win over WCAC rival St. John’s. He had five important points in the final minute that put Paul VI ahead for good, “I knew my team needed me at the end of the game, they always need me at the end of the game. Even though I was not playing my best they still look for me to make a big shot at the end of the game.”
There is a new school that recently just jumped into Jeremy’s recruitment and he would like to take a certain visit soon.
“Duke is the latest school to call me, they want me to come and do a visit there. I will probably visit Duke in the next couple of months.”
When asked about the Blue Devils message, he had this to say, “They said that I am really the only guard they are looking at, well they are looking at a couple more but I am one of the ones they want.”
He went on to say that “Maryland, Texas, Virginia Tech and Villanova” are all in constant contact with him, too.
