Prospect Spotlight: Garrett Bickett (2018)
Carrington guard Garrett Bickett talked with PHD today about his team’s 7-2 start to the season and what he’s seen from his future Jamestown program.
The Cards are 7-2 on the season with seven double figure wins and a pair of losses sandwiching the Christmas holiday. The losses to Thompson and DLB seemed to bring out the anger of Carrington as they won the Stutsman County Tournament by large margins.
“We’re a very athletic team that can score in bunches,” Bickett said. “We can run the floor well but we need to stay in rhythm and take good shots. Our biggest challenge will be either Lamoure or Edgeley to make it to the state tournament.”
Carrington currently has the best resume in District 5 but Ellendale, Edgeley, and LLM are on their heels. Bickett feels that if the team comes together as expected goals will be reached.
“If we play our best basketball we should be playing in Bismarck in March,” Garrett said. “My main goal is to make it to state and make a run for a state championship.
“As an individual I want to shoot over 90 percent from the free throw line and 50 percent from the field. Another big goal is to make it on the All-State team.”
This fall Bickett signed his letter of intent to play for Jamestown and he is very excited about what he’s seen from his future team.
“Jamestown has an awesome program and I love how they compete every time they’re on the floor. They move the ball well and they can shoot the lights out. They seem like a fun group and I’m really excited for next year.”
