Prospect Spotlight: Drew Bishop (2018)
Dexter High School basketball is a program on the rise in southeastern Michigan. Drew Bishop has been a key piece to the programs recent success. The 6-1 senior point guard has had a solid start to the 2017-2018 season. Bishop is currently averaging 14ppg, 7rpg, 4apg, and 4spg. He is also shooting 43% from three point range.
Drew Bishop has all the skills needed to be a great point guard. He is a playmaker who can create shots for teammates and always seems to make the right pass. Bishop has exceptional court vision and is a student of the game. He learns from success and from mistakes, absorbs the information and uses it to become a better basketball player. Bishop is always striving to become an even better leader and he is working to become an elite finisher.
Drew Bishop has proven that he is a fighter with an incredible work ethic. He suffered an injury over the summer AAU season that put his leg in a cast. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, Bishop used the time to become better in other ways. He took it as an opportunity to get in the weightroom and improve the mental aspect of his game. Bishop spent time watching film and concentrating on the fundamentals. “I could have easily sat around, but I took it as a challenge and took the biggest leap I’ve had as a player,” he said.
Drew Bishop has the goal of receiving a scholarship to play basketball in college. Off the court, he wants to graduate from college in four years and find his path in life. He has received interest from NAIA, D2, and D3 schools but is focusing on becoming a better student-athlete and letting his results control his destiny. Bishop certainly has a skill set that can transfer to the next level and will be a great addition to a college program.
Drew Bishop is an athlete who is motivated to be successful. His Mom and Dad have always been in his corner supporting him. “They sacrificed so much and helped me through everything to give me the opportunities to succeed,” Bishop said.
