“This year I’ve learned that we all gel well together,” Yackley said about his 10-0 Tigers. “We love playing with each other and understand what we all do well.”
It’s clear White River has gelled, they’ve won most games by double figures and then were able to battle together to beat Lower Brule and Crow Creek in overtime. Challenges against Aberdeen Roncalli and Pine Ridge are upcoming but Yackley feels he and his team are ready,
“Some challenges I’d say coming up is the Jones County Tournament that we’re looking to bring back home to White River,” Donnie said. “Also the Hanson Classic game is always something we look forward to every year because of all the great teams involved in it.
“Some goals of ours as a team are to go undefeated at home, be Jones County Tournament champions, and of course the ultimate goal of the becoming state champions.
“Some of my personal goals are to come out every night and be aggressive for my team both offensively and defensively. As a point guard, it’s my job to keep everyone involved, but at the same time look to be aggressive and put pressure on the defense.”
Donnie is excited about the fact that he will play at Dordt College in the future. He made that announcement three months ago and is committed to their program.
“I have verbally committed to play basketball at Dordt College and that is still my plan as of now,” Donnie said.
