Prospect Spotlight: 2020 Martel Williams
The class of 2020 has a lot of talent in Las Vegas. 6’3″ Guard Martel Williams of Silverado is a name to remember. He’s a very soft-spoken young man that plays extremely hard and is very athletic. His Silverado team is somewhat Young, and a work in progress. Martel find himself in a position where he must lead his team in many different areas. At this present moment this young man is averaging 21.5 ppg 7.2 rpg and 1.9 apg this year. His ability to rebound makes him very effective inside. He can score from all 3 levels. He is still learning how to become a more effective player all around.
Silverado is 11-9 and is fighting for a playoff spot in the city. Martell has had some outstanding games this season, against some of the top competition in the city. Williams had a Breakout game where he went for 35 points against one of the top guards in the country. “Martell, he’s one of the best players in town,” Silverado coach Colin Darfour said. “I know he’s only a sophomore and people feel like he’s one of the best sophomores in town. But I think he’s one of the best players overall in town. Martell’s going to be a beast.”
When players are young like Martell there is still room for improvement. He must work on his transitional defense, and his ball skills. This is something he must do in the summer. His Transitional offense must develop in order for him to be effective on the offensive end. This will come in time as he grows and mature.
This coming summer Martell will play with the Las Vegas Punishers AAU program. We will continue to track his progress as he grow as a player.
