Prospect Spotlight: 2018 Elijah Harkless
ETIWANDA, CA.—Etiwanda High School is off to a terrific start this season due to it’s outstanding depth, defensive prowess, and outstanding coaching under the tutelage of Head Coach Dave Kleckner.
The Chargers are blessed with a bevy of versatility in their line-up with Pepperdine-bound Kessler Edwards, glue-type specialist Toby Okwuokei, sophomore stud Camren Pierce, and defensive specialist Dylan Gaines.
However, the catalyst to this bunch of stalwarts is senior Elijah Harkless.
Harkless is a 6-foot-3 all-around talent who has the skill and savvy to play all three perimeter positions. He’s a terrific passer, especially in transition, can get to the rim at will or be a lock-down defender.
“Leadership is another quality that I bring to the table. I want to get my teammates involved and focused at both ends of the floor. I can do a lot of things on the court from scoring to passing, but getting my teammates to play team ball and hard is my main focus,” notes Harkless.
Harkless is one of the best unsigned seniors in So-CalDespite being confident in his abilities, Harkless knows he has areas of his game he needs to improve to take his game to another level.
“I play hard, but sometimes it takes me time to get going. I need to be playing at a 100% from the get-go. I need to be consistently aggressive with my intensity to take my game to a new level,” explains Harkless.
Harkless is one of the best unsigned seniors in Southern California and has met all his A-G requirements according to our sources, yet has received little to no interest from college coaches.
“I’m not worried with the lack of interest. I know it will all work out in the end. I just have to be patient,” notes Harkless.
In the end, it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. I have a feeling Harkless will be suited up at some Division 1 school come the fall.
