Mark Dolan started the season in a bit of a shooting slump but now that he has snapped out of it, the Fairview Knights are a different basketball team.
Since a breakout 25-point performance against Heritage on Jan. 3 in which he shot 8 for 12 from the field and 7 for 11 from 3-point range, Dolan has 18.2 points a game and is shooting well over 50 percent. Through 13 games on the season, he is averaging 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.6 assists per game.
Now that has found his shooting stroke again, Dolan is hoping that his recruitment begins to pick up while the Knights (7-6) try to put together a resurgent season.
“We’re right around .500,” Dolan said. “We started kind of slow but our coach keeps telling us that it’s more important to finish strong. We’ll just keep pushing forward. I haven’t really been focusing that much on recruiting to this point, just practicing and trying to play well for my team. I definitely want to play in college and I’m just trying to get some good wins and see what happens.”
Dolan is the second leading scorer on a young Fairview team that features a rotation of primarily juniors and younger players and is led in scoring by sophomore Jalen Page. At 6-foot-1 as a junior, Dolan also has plenty of room to grow but the shooting stroke is there already and he displays solid court vision and the ability to distribute the ball effectively to his teammates in rhythm.
Dolan said he has not yet been contacted by any college programs, coaches or recruiters and that he doesn’t not currently have any criteria for any school she would like to attend.
