PrepHoops MLK Showcase
The 1st annual PrepHoops MLK Showcase at Greenville High School in Greenville, South Carolina will be held on Monday, January 15th starting at 11:30AM. Here is a look at the games and schedule. (Some information gathered from Greenville County Boy’s Basketball Preview)
11:30 AM-Riverside (SC) vs Franklin County (GA)-Riverside High School features Collin Fowler, who was second in scoring last season and the teams leading rebounder in 16-17. He will have a bigger role for the Warriors this season, along with Landon Shaw and Carl Kahaleh. Franklin County (GA)-No college level prospects presented.
2019 CG Kyle Sturdivant of Norcross.1PM-SCA (SC) vs Landrum (SC)-6’5 senior forward Christian Kincaid is averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game, 6’3 senior guard Johnathan Gaminde is averaging 16 points and 13 rebounds per game. For Landrum, junior guard Trey Smith is averaging 30.1 points per game and is one of the better guards in the area. He is also dishing out nearly 5 assists per game. 6’5 senior forward Foster Bridges is averaging right at 20.1 points per game this season for the 11-3 Cardinals.
2:45-Berea (SC) vs Byrnes (SC)-Jaylan Gordon will be a focal point of the Berea offense this year. Gordon and G Newa Hashim are the top returning scorers for the Bulldogs. Both will be counted on to take on a bigger role with the loss of Jalen Duffin and Raymond Williams. Senior PG Ta’mious Young will run the show, as he and Hashim will be counted on to provide leadership on the court. Seniors Damarcus Leamon and Daiquane Weir-Coleman provide versatility and athleticism on the wings. Leamon was the teams second leading rebounder last season behind Gordon. Byrnes is led by 6-foot senior guard Nick Hernandez who is averaging 11.1 points per game, sophomore guard Rhajai Harris at 10.2 points per game and junior guard Josh Moore at 10.9 points per game.
4:15-Westside (SC) vs Greer (SC)-Westside High School is off to a 14-1 start to the season and are led by 5-foot-6 junior guard Odarius Cade, who is averaging 12.1 points per game. Another junior, 5-foot-9 Traye Carson is averaging 18 points per outing. For Greer High School, Sam Gravley and junior Magic Moody return on the perimeter as the teams leading scorers along with G Kyle Moore who is expected to have a bigger role this season.
6PM-Norcross (GA) vs Christ School (NC)-The marquee match-up of the event, Norcross High School and Head Coach Jesse McMillian feature 6’9, 2019 F Isaa Muhammad who has offers from Georgia Tech, FIU and Charlotte.
2019 PG Kyle Sturdivant who has offers from Ohio State, Memphis, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Auburn, Florida State, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Florida Gulf Coast.
2020 guard Brandon Boston, who is ranked as a top-50 player in the class and has offers from Clemson, DePaul, Tulane, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Georgia, Virginia Tech and South Florida.
Christ School features one of the top ranked juniors in the country, Jalen Lecque, a high-flying guard who has offers from Oregon, UConn, Tennessee, Auburn, Kansas, Baylor, NC State, Clemson, Minnesota, Georgia, and Florida to name a few.
6-foot-11 forward Brandon Stone is a legitimate threat at the stretch four position and has offers from South Carolina, Pittsburgh, and St. Joe’s.
6’10 sophomore forward Justice Ajogbor is ranked among the top-50 sophomores in the country and has offers from Auburn, Davidison, UConn, Mississippi State, Maryland and Tennessee. Cleveland, Tennessee native, Norance Berry is a 2020 guard with offers from UT-Chattanooga, East Tennessee State and Tennessee.
7:30PM-Greenville (SC) vs Carolina Day (NC)-The Red Raiders are off to a 13-1 record coming into The PrepHoops MLK Showcase. Quade Green has been having a strong start to the season and is getting some college-level interest at this points. Senior Wells Hoag is one of the top scorers in the region and should be up for all-state consideration this season. He has been getting some Big South/Southern Conference looks. Freshman JQ Jones has been a bright spot for Greenville this season. Carolina Day features point guard Tai Giger, one of the top seniors in WNC, 2019’s D’Angelo Elliott and Devin Elliott, and 2020 guard Lee Langstaff who has been getting some early college interest.
