PrepHoops MLK Showcase Notes
The 1st annual PrepHoops MLK Showcase was held this past Monday at Greenville High School in South Carolina and had some of the top teams in the area along with national powers Norcross (GA) and Christ School (NC).
Jalen Lecque showed why he is a top prospect in 2019, by taking over the game for Christ School in win over Norcross (GA). High flying dunks over defenders, consistent 3-point shot, heady passer, can rebound with anyone on the floor. 29 points with Oregon Assistant looking on.
6’10, 2020 F Justice Ajogbor of Christ School had a big defensive effort against Norcross (GA) big man Issa Muhammad last night. Couple blocks, big rebounds, showed soft touch around rim, threw down a big two-handed jam in traffic.
JoJo Toppin2019 cat-quick guard Traye Carson was impressive for Westside (SC) yesterday. Strong off the dribble, hard to stay in front of.
Norcross F JoJo Toppin has to be one of the most athletic players in the 2018 class in Georgia. Scoring wing that excels at slashing to the basket to get his buckets. Versatile get for the Georgia Bulldogs.
6’5, 2020 Brandon Boston of Norcross (GA) was phenomenal today. When he gets into the lane and hangs in the air one of two happen. He gets fouled or scores. Length is going to cause a lot of problems. A couple more inches to his frame and think Brandon Ingramesque.
Low-majors and D2’s need to see 2019 guard Trey Smith of Landrum (SC). Skilled guard, High basketball IQ, coach’s son, understands the game, stays under control, shooting 50% on season from 3, averaging 31 ppg.
Riverside HS (SC) takes the first game 53-39 over Franklin County HS (GA). Impressed with 2020 guard Micah Roebuck. Shooter finished with 17 points (5-three’s).
Strong first half for 2018 guard Davonte Wright of Byrnes HS (SC). Playmaking guard that finds a way to score. Gets most of his buckets by just out-hustling everyone else. 10 points in first half.
