1. Garner HS 10-1 Coming off a championship performance at The John Wall Holiday Invitational, Garner is poised at a run at a NCHSAA 4-A title.
2. Cox Mill HS 11-3 Played well at The Beach Ball Classic over the past weekend. Losing in the 3rd place game to DeMatha (MD) at the buzzer. Junior Wendell Moore was named Most Outstanding Player at the tournament. Leaky Black was named to the all-tournament team.
3. Lincoln Charter 11-3 Presbyterian recruit Kody Shubert has been playing at a high level all season. LC won two games in the Hoodies House tournament before falling to Butler HS.
4. Northside-Jax 11-0 Northside won the Bob’s Auto Christmas Tournament this past Friday night. In the semifinal Kenny Dye scored 37 points in an incredible performance against crosstown rival Jacksonville. He scored 22 points in the 3rd period taking over the game after we trailed by 14 points in the 1st half. His final stats were 37 points making 14 of 16 shots from the field. He was 3 of 3 from behind the arch and made 6 of 7 freethrows to go along with his 6 assists and 5 steals. Kenny has played solid all season long. We are currently 11-0 and have won 41 straight dating back to last season. Kenny Dye and Gabe Kirkendoll are having a really good season so far as we start our conference schedule next Friday. They are getting some college interest but have not committed to anyone yet.
5. Goldsboro 10-0 Head Coach Russell Stephens has Goldsboro off to an undefeated season at 10-0. Wins over Southern Wayne HS and Eastern Wayne HS are quality.
6. Broughton 12-1 Only loss for the Caps comes from Greenfield School and UNC signee Coby White.
7. South Central 11-0 14 points per game from Shykeim Phillips and sophomore Day’Ron Sharpe has led South Central to an undefeated start to the season.
8. Independence 12-1 Having senior point guard Jamarius Burton has helped tremendously for Independence. A win over rival Butler HS shows that Independence is for real.
9. Leesville Road 12-1 2019 point guard Jalen Benjamin is having one of the best seasons of anyone playing high school basketball in North Carolina. The scoring point guard was recently offered by George Mason University.
10. Rocky Mount Prep 9-0 Won The Hertford County Holiday Tournament with a championship game win over Plymouth HS 93-80. Leading the way this season is 6-foot-3 guard Kalil Baker and his 30.2 points per game average.
11. North Meck 12-1 The Vikings won The prestigious Arby’s Classic in Bristol, Tennessee over the holidays. Tristan Maxwell and Jae’Lyn Withers are both recruited at the high-major level.
12. Eastern Guilford 14-1 Gardner-Webb recruit Jaylen Alston is leading Eastern Guilford HS this season in their quest at a state title by averaging 25 points per game.
13. Mount Tabor 11-1 Junior guard Quest Alridge and senior guard Isaiah Wilkins have been doing the bulk of the scoring for Andy Muse’s Mount Tabor team.
14. Kinston HS 7-2 One of the most heralded programs in the state year after year. Kinston is led this season by Damian Dunn, Taji Moore and Dontrez Styles. Won one game at the prestigious John Wall Holiday Invitational.
15. Hoke County 12-1 Senior guards Dakari Johnson and Silas Love are leading Hoke County to their 12-1 record this season. Only loss was at the hands of Christ School.
16. Butler HS 12-2 Led by senior guard and Queens University recruit DJ Little, New Orleans signee Gerrale Gates, 2019 Raquan Brown, Butler HS is still considered one of the most talented teams in the state, only losses coming at the hands of Myers Park HS and Independence.
