Player of the Week: Week 8
After a week away due to a lack of nominations, the Player of the Week contest is back. Here are the nominees for the week:
Kyle Rode (Lexington Christian) – The 6’7 junior point forward was the best player all week at the All A State tournament in Richmond. Rode led the Eagles to the state title while putting up monster numbers, including a triple double in the opening game against University Heights.
Marques Warrick (Henry Clay) – The sophomore wing had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist against Louisville Trinity. He followed that up with 24 points and 3 assists against Frederick Douglass then finished his week with 17 points, 4 steals and 4 rebounds against Lafayette.
Seth Williams (Paintsville) – Friday night against Magoffin County the sophomore scored 21 points, dished out 7 assists and gathered 5 rebounds. He followed that up with 28 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds on Saturday against Floyd Central.
Ben Carroll (Greenwood) – The sophomore small forward had 25 points and 10 rebounds against Warren East. That was his 4th double double of the season. He also added a 12 point and 8 rebound effort on Saturday night. Carroll is averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds on the season.
Hunter Stevens (Southwestern) – On Friday night, the senior point guard poured in 41 points against Wayne County then followed it up with 23 points against Bourbon County on Saturday.
Markelo Sullivan (Fairdale) – The senior scored 27 points and snagged 7 rebounds on Tuesday then put up 26 points and gathered 8 rebounds in a big win over St. Francis Friday. Markelo ended the week with a 33 point and 11 rebound performance in a win over Seneca. Three big games and 3 double digit wins for Fairdale.
