Player of the Week: Ryan Miller (Week 7)
Ryan Miller (2018)
5’10 G, North Linn
It’s pretty amazing what North Linn is doing this season. The Lynx are 19-0, and if that wasn’t impressive enough, they’re winning those 19 games by an average of 57 points — they average a state-best 93 points per game.
Leading the charge, is this week’s leading vote-getter for Player of the Week, senior shooting guard Ryan Miller; a 5’10 sharpshooter who’s averaging a team-best 25.2 points per game this season. Junior point guard Jake Hilmer sets him up, and Miller knocks them down. Amazingly, Miller is shooting 61 percent from the floor, that’s outstanding for a guard, and his 45 percent from 3-point range showcases his true marksmanship.
Miller was especially good last week, averaging 26.5 points per game in two more Lynx wins. He added 6.5 rebounds, four steals and three assists per win while showcasing his versatility.
We recently caught up with Miller, and he says his college decision has been whittled down to either Briar Cliff or Mount Mercy. But there’s still plenty of business to take care of as his high school career winds down.
Currently, Miller’s North Linn squad is our No.2 team in 1A, they’re only behind defending state champs Grand View Christian. That GVC squad just added a 6’7 forward with an Iowa State offer to its lineup, and the two teams are on a collision course to meet up in a possible 1A state title match.
The next month-and-a-half is sure to be a thrill for Miller and Co.
