Palmetto State : Upstate Friday Night
The Lowcountry of the Palmetto State generally meaning south of I-95 has been shut down all week long. Columbia up to the Upstate played games after Winter Storm Grayson hit the state. Lets take a look at some of the action from last night from the Upstate in Greenville and Spartanburg County.
Kam’ron Cunningham led the JL Mann Patriots with 43 points in a 73-71 victory over Spartanburg HS. Cooper Fowler (2019) added 16 points in the Patriots win.
Uzziah Dawkins (2018) took high honors for the Vikings with 22 points while Luke Gilsdorf chipped in 13 points.
York Prep defeated Providence Day (NC) in a nail biter 65-63. The Patriots improved to 16-5 on the year. The Patriots were led in scoring by DJ Burns (2019) with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Dericko Williams (2019) added 19 points and 10 rebounds while freshman guard Jacobi Wright added 9 points.
Greenville HS moves to 10-1 on the season with a 64-50 win over Hillcrest HS. Quade Parks led the way for the Red Raiders with 17 points and Dorian Williams added 16 points.
Marquez Lewis and Justin Amadi both sophomores led the Rams with 17 and 16 points respectively.
Daniel HS defeated Seneca HS 63-46 behind Ben Sawyer with 12 points, Jalen Gibbs 11 points and Brenton Benson added 8 points. Jay Simpson led Seneca HS in the losing effort with 14 points.
Wade Hampton defeated Dorman HS 49-47 behind Will Edwards 15 points. Nick Brenegan and Ethan Girardeau both chipped in with 10 points a piece.
Myles Tate (2020) led the Cavaliers with 17 points and Kamron Smith added 12 points in the loss.
Traveler’s Rest HS got by Greer HS 66-52 last night in the Upstate. Graham Burton led the way with 15 points. Luke Satterfield added 14 points for the Devildogs while Sam Brown and Derrick Fields both chipped in 11 points.
Southside Tigers won there region over the Berea HS Bulldogs 49-36. The Tigers improved to 9-2 on the season with a 49-36 victory. Jamal Burke (2018) led the way with 18 points and RJ Campbell (2019) added 11 points.
Damarcus Leamon (2018) led the way for the Bulldogs with 13 points in the loss. Newa Hashim chipped in with 11 points.
Westside HS (Anderson) improved to 13-1 on the year with a 69-53 victory over Byrnes HS. Traye Carson (2019) led the charge with 34 points. Carson connected on three pointers in the game.
Raymond Williams (2018) is no longer at Legacy Early College and has returned back to Berea HS. CJ Plantin (2020) has left Legacy Early College and enrolled back at Pendleton HS.
Donta King (2019) has informed Prep Hoops that he has left Legacy Early College and enrolled at Dutchtown HS in Hampton, GA.
