Maryland/DC 2018 Rankings Overview
Here’s a broad overview of our updated rankings, taking a look at some of the trends we’ve seen so far. Stay tuned for more in depth breakdowns of the 2018 class and new 2019 and 2020 rankings!
TOP TEN REMAINS INTACT
We must acknowledge the fact that 2018 Jalen Smith is having an excellent season for Mount St. Joseph, and it was a difficult choice not to give him the top spot, but we still believe that Immanuel Quickley is the best prospect in the state among seniors. We didn’t drop the currently injured Prentiss Hubb out of the top three because we still believe he has all the tools to be an excellent player at the next level. Noah Locke and Saddiq Bey, two of the most talented scorers in the class, round out the top five. Rhode Island commit Jermaine Harris, who is putting up monster numbers for RCCA this season, comes in sixth as the second best front court player in the state. We round out the top ten with three very talented guards in Myles Dread, Wynston Tabbs, and Jared Bynum.
TOP UNCOMMITTED PLAYERS
#17 AMIR HARRIS | 6’4 G | SAINT JAMES
Previously committed to Rhode Island, we consider Amir Harris to be the best player currently available in the state of Maryland. At 6-foot-4, he has the skill set to play develop into a true point, but also has elite athleticism and defensive potential.
#19 DIMA ZDOR | 6’10 F | SAINT JAMES
Dima Zdor is another intriguing prospect on the roster at Saint James. At 6-foot-8, he’s a good athlete who actively contests shots around the basket, and can score efficiently both with his back to the basket and while facing up.
#20 LAQUILL HARDNETT | 6’9 F | PERRY HALL
Scan the list of division one prospects coming out of Maryland, and you won’t find many who have the tools that LaQuill Hardnett is blessed with. At 6’9, he can do a bit of everything on both ends of the floor.
#21 RICKY LINDO | 6’8 F | WOODROW WILSON
Ricky Lindo boasts a unique blend of athleticism, size, and skill to go along with an impressive academic record. Several Ivy League schools have actively recruited Lindo, but there’s still a chance he could prep into 2019 after his senior year.
#25 JAYLIN ANDREWS | 6’4 G | BOYS’ LATIN
Jaylin Andrews has been a huge reason for the success of his team this season. The versatile 6-foot-4 guard, who has eclipsed 1400 points in his high school career, will likely be a steal for whoever gets him at the next level.
