Malik Johnson Enrolls at WOG and Joins the 2019 Class
Over the years I have crossed paths with quite a few talented prospects, you never really know how things will work out for a youngster when you first met them , especially if you meet them when they are in middle school. The first time I saw Malik Johnson was in a middle school championship game when he was in 7th grade and over the years I have watched him play a countless amounts of times. One thing that has never changed about Malik is how intense he is and that he doesn’t back down from anything. He’s shown that he knows how to win without a doubt, during his time at Terry Sanford HS they won: A State Championship in his Freshman season, reached the State Championship in his Sophomore Season, and made a deep playoff run during his junior year.So clearly, having him on the floor will only help your team be succesful, however the time has come for this young man to make a change for himself as he has made the decision to attend Word Of God Christian Academy.
Things will be much different for him as the private school setting and location is different as well as the amount of games and caliber of teams they will play on a nightly basis will be much better. Will he succeed? Well If there is one person that I truly think could do well
in this situation it would be Malik, he loves challenges and that’s exactly what he is walking into. The Holy Rams haven’t had their greatest start to the season but the addition of Malik can help them at the PG spot this season and makes them better for next season as well.
He will be joining players like Jamal King, Zack Newkirk, Todd Burtt and Aaron Cash as the team looks to make a strong final push and a nice start for next season.
Recruitment wise this move should be good for him as well, he joins the 2019 recruiting class and automatically will be a top 10 guy and the top PG in the state for that class. Academically he’s solid already and we expect that to improve some more as he will be able to lock in and focus on his studies more. High Major programs should keep a close eye on him as schools such as Clemson, Tennessee, and Cincy had all called about him at one point or another.
