Jadakis Bonds: 1st Team All-Defense
Riverside HS has produced some very good athletes over the past few years, with many players participating in both football and basketball its always interesting to see what sport the youngster picks to play in college. With Jadakis Bonds we thought that we had our answer last year when he verballed to ECU for football, however as of late we have learned that its a possibility that he could play basketball on the next level. If this is a possibility then schools at the D1 level should be contacting him as soon as possible , from what we have seen over the years and recently , he could be a very good college Point Guard.
My first time seeing Jadakis play was during his sophomore season when he was teamed up with Markel Freeman and Ben Cox. During that time you could see the upside and potential of him and most of all you could already see his stellar passing and the toughness that he plays the game with. Over the years his game has grown and matured, recently we got the privilege of watching him in a bigtime matchup vs Farmville Central. He took on the duties of guarding the opposing teams top scorers and did a very good job of making things difficult , he has quick hands, nice lateral quickness and is strong. After seeing his performances over the years there is no doubt in my mind that Jadakis Bonds is one of the top passers and defenders in the state of North Carolina.
Many times we don’t see kids take pride in defending at a high level, or even passing at a high level since we know that many youngsters look to score the ball first and foremost. That is not the case for this young man, he does just about everything you can think of and even does a good job of communicating with his coaches throughout the game. The next step for Jadakis is knocking down jumpshots with consistency, once he is able to knock down the midrange and trey ball with consistency, he will be a much more difficult player to defend.
