Iowa’s Player of the Week (5)
Nichols Holste
6’5 F, CAM Anita, 2018
He’s on fire! Nicholas Holste, a 6-foot-5 forward, canned all five of his 3-point attempts in two Cougars wins last week, and shot 65 percent form the floor. It’s no wonder he was able to average 29.5 points per game in the Ws. Holste also grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists, 1,5 steals and 1.5 blocks.
Tate Killeen
Audubon, 5’10 PG, 2019
The Wheelers split, a win and a loss, in their two games last week, and regardless of the outcome, junior point guard Tate Killeen was fantastic. He notched 27 points to go with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in a win over Griswold. And poured in 30 points in a loss to AHSTW, Avoca.
Drew Schurke
Ar-We-Va, 5’7 G, 2019
Small in stature but big in production, Schurke has been instrumental in the Rockets’ current eight game win streak. The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 23 points per game to go with 4.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals in two more wins last week. He dropped 31 on on Paton-Churdan last Friday night.
Brett Givens
Lisbon, 5’7 G, 2018
Givens’ Lions went from 6-3 to 8-3 last week and they have him to thank for that. In the two wins he averaged 26.5 points per game. His monster game was Friday night against East Buchanan, when he poured in 28 points on 10-16 shooting (5-8 from deep), dished out 4 assists and swiped 5 steals.
Devonte Thedford
Hoover, 6’2 G, 2018
The veteran Huskies guard is having a heck of a season, averaging 10 points per game on 58 percent shooting and 8.8 rebounds per game. Him and his squad are rolling, with four straight wins. In two more Ws last week, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 25 points on 69 percent shooting, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
