Intro: Chris Hodges (2021)
We had seen a little bit of Schaumburg stud 2021 prospect Chris Hodges on the travel team circuit with the Illinois Wolves, but we were able to see him for the first time over the holiday break in the high school setting. The 6’7” center is a well-built post with a nice frame. We saw some of the tools that make him intriguing. Got on the offensive glass for put backs. Carves out space inside. Drilled a mid-range jumper. Area rebounder. D1 prospect for sure early on that is tracking as one of the best freshman posts in the state.
He spoke about his first year of high school basketball.
“My freshman season is going well getting used to varsity and the physicality. It should be a good year. I am playing well and getting better every game.”
Hodges broke down his game and what he brings to the table as a young prospect.
“I am a post player that can also stretch it out. I have that mid-range jumper.”
He ran with the Illinois Wolves this past summer on the 14U level.
“It went well. It really developed my game more and got my motor up. It helped prepare me for varsity.”
One local D1 program has already stepped up with an early scholarship offer.
“DePaul offered me a couple weeks ago. Their coaches coach well. It is a nice program. I went on a visit for their Notre Dame game. It was a nice visit. The new arena is really nice. It is up to date.”
