HoopState: Rivalry Week Top Standouts
Khalil Marshall – 5’8” PG – Pender High School, Class of 2021
A cat quick & savvy point guard that plays beyond his years. This freshman poured in a loud & energetic 40 points against rival school Trask in front of a packed out crowd. Definitely was his coming out party. College coaches, don’t hesitate to keep up with this kid as his body matures and his career goes forward. One of the more exciting young guards to watch in the hoopstate.
Johnathan Clark – 6’1” G – Northside Pinetown High School, Class of 2019
Instant offense, instant defense & instant energy. Clark is one of those guys that every good team needs to make life easy for everyone else. He has a high IQ, is ultra athletic, has above average court vision and will do whatever it takes to win. He pumped in 25 points along with 5 rebounds & 5 assists in a win over rival school Southside HS.
Jajuan Carr – 6’1” G – Trask High School, Class of 2020
Despite taking a tough close loss to rival school Pender High School, Jajuan Carr dominated the matchup throughout. He got to the rim at will, showed his unselfishness through his distribution, defended well on the perimeter and made tough shot after tough shot at every turn. He poured in a team high 30 points in the loss to Pender. Make no mistake, his team is currently 15-2 mainly due to his presence.
Dontrez Styles – 6’6” G, Kinston High School, Class of 2021
This young freshman has been highly regarded for a little while now and it seems he’s beginning to figure out how to be more & more consistent. Facing a familiar foe in visiting J.H. Rose High School, Dontrez Styles pumped in a career high 20 points against the Rampants from Greenville, NC scoring inside & outside while showing a soft touch. Once Styles begins to string together more games like this, colleges will come knocking sooner than later.
TJ Scott – 5’10” PG, Roanoke Rapids High School, Class of 2018
Arguably one of the most underrated point guard prospects in eastern North Carolina. According to MaxPreps.com, Scott sits top 10 nationally in assists per game, averaging 9.2 assists per night. Against Southern Vance HS, despite it being a low scoring affair, Scott still managed to dish out 8 assists to go with his 14 points. He’s an uber quick point guard with excellent instincts on both sides of the ball. Will be a steal at the next level.
