GWOC midseason storylines
The GWOC has been a dominant conference in the past and is home to several top notch players this year. Two of the state’s top D1 teams call the GWOC home as well as one of the top D2 teams as well. Several dark horses are here as well. Here is a look at some of the top storylines thus far in the GWOC.
- Wayne, Springfield, and Trotwood-Madison are still the leaders.
It’s the Warriors, Wildcats, and Rams that are dominating the GWOC yet again. All 3 are loaded with potential college talent and are predicted to continue their dominance into February.
- The emergence of the Lebanon Warriors.
Lebanon has been such a dominant team thus far. Currently sitting at 9-3 the Warriors are led by senior dark horse Harrison Hookfin (2018) and have a great chance of being a competitive team come February.
- Samari Curtis is the top player.
Curtis is one of the top juniors in the state of Ohio. Currently, averaging more than 30 points per game, there has not been many teams that can figure out how to defend him.
- Can Fairmont compete in the East?
The Firebirds are 9-2 and have some quality wins thus far. Currently sitting behind Wayne & Springfield in the East division, Fairmont has some serious talent and can really dominate at the guard spot.
- The North division will be a tight matchup.
Butler is seriously surprised a lot of people this year. They are 10-1 currently and are even sitting above a Sidney team that was expected to be in a better spot right now. It will come down to the final days to determine a winner here.
