Games to Watch Week 6: Tuesday
Here are the games to watch tonight, Tuesday, January 9th. Some important games in Class AA as well as a big Region 3 match-up in Class A.
Top Game:
A #2 Sioux Falls Christian @ A #6 Dell Rapids
Should be a great game. Last time a top 2 team came into Dell Rapids, #1 Tea needed double OT to escape with a win. Dell Rapids has played well this year behind Jeffrey Schuch and Carson Rentz. Rentz is coming off a 30 point performance where he knocked down a school record eight 3PT shots. SF Christian is a very well balanced team and as we’ve seen can play at a very high level behind Koln Oppold. SF Christian would seem to be the favorite here as Dell Rapids will be trying to knock them from the ranks of the unbeatens.
Other games to to watch:
AA #5 Sioux Falls O’Gorman @ AA #10 Sioux Falls Washington
SF Washington is 0-2 versus the other two Sioux Falls schools so far this year (Lincoln and Roosevelt). Washington has played arguably the toughest schedule and they are better than their 3-5 record suggests. O’G is coming off a couple nice wins after dealing with injuries late in December. It will be interesting to see O’G’s rotation as they’ve been forced to play lots of players so far this year. Fun matchup to watch will be O’G’s sophomore Akoi Akoi against Washington’s bigs Zach Heins and Manny Akot. If Akoi can get them away from the basket, he can hurt them.
A #5 Sioux Valley @ A #8 Hamlin
Does Hamlin have the answer for big 6’8’’ Trevor Hanson inside? Hanson was really good to end the month of December putting up a career high 47 in a game. Hamlin has proven to win close games and has some tough kids on their roster. It pays off to be the home team here if your Hamlin because they will have their hands full as they do not have a player on their roster over 6’3’’.
B #1 Clark/Willow Lake @ Milbank
Here’s an intriguing matchup. Milbank has played well this year and their 3-4 record might suggest otherwise, however each loss is to a team with a very nice record. Can Clark/Willow Lake go on the road tonight and stay unbeaten behind their trio of Bradyn Rusher, Jacob Prouty and Micah Burke?
