**Photo: Aberdeen News
Friday night throughout South Dakota will feature some nice games to get out and watch if you’re a basketball fan. We are highlighting lots games, and we almost are able to touch all parts of the state of South Dakota with our picks.
Top Game:
Kimball/White Lake @ B #9 Corsica-Stickeny
A terrific Region 6 matchup in Class B tonight as the 6-2 Kimball/White Lake WildKats travel to face the 6-1 and #9 ranked Corsica-Stickney Jaguars. A tough test on the road for the WildKats however they have played well this year and will look to senior Kory Peters and junior Javen Holan to lead the offensive attack. The Jaguars are looking to get a home win and hold on to that top ten ranking. Seniors Cordel Menning and Bryce Plamp have been key factors in their success this season and they will be looked upon to get it going tonight.
Other games to to watch:
AA #4 Rapid City Stevens @ AA #6 Sturgis Brown
Sturgis lost last night hosting Rapid City Central. They will look to bounce back tonight as they host the other top rated team out of Rapid City, the Raiders from Stevens. Dawson Geuke poured in 26 points in the loss last night making five 3PT attempts. Sturgis will need that as well as more from other players not the floor. The Raiders will hope that they continue their early season success with great play from seniors Cooper Bowman, Gib Elder & Dawson Paulsen.
A #4 Aberdeen Roncallli @ A #8 Hamlin
Second time this week Hamlin hosts a top five team in Class A. They lost to #5 Sioux Valley on Tuesday as the Cossacks of Sioux Valley were pretty convincing in the win. The Hamlin Chargers will try to bounce back tonight but it doesn’t get any easier. The 7-0 Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers come to town behind big time scoring guard Gus Reede. Reede has had some big games and has been very consistent so far this season during the Cavaliers hot start.
Elk-Point Jefferson @ Ponca (NE)
If you live in the southeast part of South Dakota, I’d suggest taking a drive to Ponca, NE to check this one out between the visiting Huskies and the Ponca Indians. Ponca is the defending state champion in Nebraska and are currently undefeated at 13-0. Elk Point-Jefferson is off to a very good start as they currently sit at 6-2. In fact, EPJ’s only losses are to the #1 and #2 teams in the state (Madison & Sioux Falls Christian). EPJ has great balance and depth with guys like Jared Merkley and Alex Grashoff. Will be a fun one to watch for sure!
