Farmville Central MLK Day Standouts: Part 2
Beddingfield HS Senior Guard Tobias Cooper: He has a game that reminds you of Jalen Rose with him being a lefty that can score the ball at a high level with ease. With the ability to shoot the deep ball, get into the paint and finish inside , he is a difficult player for opposition to try and stop. In their matchup against First Flight he scored 25 points, don’t be surprised to see his recruitment rise very soon.
Beddingfield HS Senior Forward Octavius Lacey: One of the better athletes that we saw throughout the day , he’s a legit 6’4-6’5 with nice upside that colleges should be calling. As of now he can play some on the wing but does most of his damage inside the paint with putbacks and things of that nature. Once he gets into the right college program it is my belief that he can end up being a very nice player overall, and even become a legit fulltime wing player.
First Flight HS Sophomore Guard Dylan Blake: By now you should know what he brings to the table, he can shoot the ball from very deep, as soon as he crosses halfcourt he is pretty much in his range. This year he has made the effort to add to his game with the ability of making plays off the dribble as well as getting into the paint to make plays for others.
First Flight HS Sophomore Wing Jordan High: Many people didn’t know who this young man was but by the end of the day he had the attention of quite a few people in attendance. He would finish with 27 points on the day, knocking down a high amount of trey balls as well as rebounding the ball at a good rate.
Beddingfield HS Freshman Guard Mike Best: Although he didn’t have a bigtime performance , you always love to see a younger kid playing on the bigger stage and getting that experience. It will take some more time for him to take over the squad but you can see the potential in him without a doubt.
East Carteret HS Freshman Guard Bennie Brooks: There was not a more unselfish player in the building than this young man, even when he had some open looks he still made sure to get the ball to teammates. Its rare to see a player with a gift for passing the ball at such a young age but he clearly has it and he will be one to keep an eye on in the coming years.
