Thursday 4A matchup(D-3) between two teams fighting for playoff seeding. Higley is finally at full strength as sophomore transfers Shon Robinson (6’10” 13.7ppg DNP) and Jason Harris (6’8”) are finally eligible to play after the holiday break. PG Unisa Turay has been a solid contributor adding 11ppg. Brothers Jackson Lee (6’2” Jr. 14ppg) and Carson Lee (6’2” Sr. 9.9ppg) lead the Sentinels who are 6-0 in power point games and are ranked 3rd in the division.
Both teams opened up hot from deep trading 3’s in the first quarter. Seton ended up with a tad more success to take a 17-14 lead at the end of one. In the second frame The Knights tried to establish their inside game with 6’8” Sophomore Jason Harris. However, Seton was able to capitalize on opportunities to get to the basket themselves when the Knights overplayed the perimeter to take a 29-25 advantage into halftime. The 2nd half saw the Sentinels 3-2 zone pay dividends as the Knights struggled to get good looks. Offensively the Sentinels found their rhythm with ISO plays to pull Harris away from the basket. In the end Seton pulled away for the dominant 62-46 victory .
Best Rebounder: Michael Hansen (Seton)- the 6’3 Soph plays a physical style game driving to the lane for buckets and snatching rebounds off the glass.
Best PG: Unisa Turay (Higley)- very quick guard gets to the basket and has a nice floater at 5’6”. Also just a Sophomore himself, he has time to develop an outside shot to become even more dangerous.
6th man: Jackson Lee (Seton)- The 6’2 Junior typically has been a starter in the previous games I’ve seen. He leads the team in scoring and made an immediate impact upon entering the game hitting floaters and 3’s and getting a key charge on defense.
Best Post: Jason Harris(Higley)- has a great build and D-1 level athleticism. Has a solid jumper and good footwork and even had a few blocks at the top of the backboard square. Will need to decide whether to focus on football or basketball in order to maximize his potential.
Sniper: Carson Lee (Seton) -The 6’2” Senior set the tone hitting 2 threes in the opening frame. Plays within himself by taking what the defense gives him.
