Evaluations: Ben Davis vs. Center Grove
Center Grove came out hot as they pounded the ball inside due to Ben Davis foul trouble and when Aaron Henry picked up his fourth foul with two minutes left in the third quarter, you thought Center Grove could run away with it. All Henry did was score 18 points in the fourth quarter and overtime combined to lead Ben Davis to the stunning 56-53 win.
Ben Davis
Aaron Henry | 2018 | 6’5 SF (Committed to Michigan State)
Henry really struggled early in the game but poured it on in the fourth quarter and overtime. Scoring 18 of his 28 points after he picked up his fourth foul with two minutes remaining in the third, Henry really willed his team to the win. He is a scorer who is best at driving to the rim but in this one he kind of struggled to score with the height of Trayce Jackson-Davis. – 28 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals
Dawand Jones | 2019 | 6’7 PF
It was a short night for Jones as he picked up two fouls just two minutes in but when he was out there he was a difference maker. Jones is much more athletic than he looks and forced Trayce Jackson-Davis to struggle against his size. He was really good for Ben Davis and is a force inside not letting anyone get easy layups. – 8 points, 4 rebounds
Jalen Windham | 2020 | 6’2 SG
Windham shot the ball decently well in this one but didn’t really ever get going. He made a couple three-pointers and a few jumpers but he never really made any eye-opening plays. A really solid performance from the sophomore but I would like to see more from him. – 12 points, 3 rebounds
Center Grove
Nate McLain | 2018 | 6’3 SG
McLain is a tall shooting guard who really was the only guy who was able to shoot the ball at a consistent clip. He’s solid for Center Grove and won’t really do anything wrong when he is on the floor. McLain has a high IQ and you can really see it. – 10 points, 3 assists
Joey Klaasen | 2018 | 6’4 SF
Klaasen is a big bodied wing who is really strong. His defense is improving as he can guard a few different positions on the floor now. He is a guy who can really fill it up in a hurry, but hasn’t quite shown us that yet with his play. A wing that can shoot the ball well, much like the entire team. – 10 points
Trayce Jackson-Davis | 2019 | 6’9 PF
Trayce really struggled in this game with the presence of Jones inside. He wasn’t able to get any type of an advantage but when there was a smaller guy on him Jackson-Davis did really well. He isn’t ever going to be terrible in a game, but this wasn’t a great although at this point it’s probably about his floor. – 14 points, 10 rebounds
Spencer Piercefield | 2019 | 6’ SG (Committed to Indiana Wesleyan)
Piercefield never found his groove in the game but still ended with 15 points. He was just 3-of-8 from behind the arc and didn’t really make plays for his team in this one. He played decently but it wasn’t a game where I thought he looked really good. Will have to get a little better to contribute at IWU in his first year in two years. – 15 points
