DII Dream Prospects
While DI is the dream, or the very least the planned avenue for most high school hoopers, Division II players can claw their way into the NBA.
Former DII to NBA
Ben Wallace (Virginia Union)
Charles Oakley (Virginia Union)
Darrell Armstrong (Fayetteville State)
Scottie Pippen (Central Arkansas)
Ronald Murray (Shaw)
Moochie Norris (West Florida)
Jeremy Richardson (Delta State)
These exceptional high school stars have a real shot at thriving at the DII level.
2018 G Jayson Brown (Beech) continues to hear from a couple DII programs in Illinois and Tennessee.
The virtually ambidextrous Isaac Stephens (Mount Juliet) was evaluated by Maryville College (DIII) in December. At 6-foot-7 he might have an outside shot at DII.
Wing Zool Kueth (Gallatin) continues to expand his game. Roane State has offered.
Will Midlick (#31 in 2018) of Rossview High signed early to Delta State, largely because he grew up around the campus when his father David Midlick coaching for DSU.
Gene Holmes continues to play All-District level basketball for undefeated East Nashville (21-0). Recruitments can be hampered by any number of reasons. Holmes, for example, simply has not been watched by many recruiters. Also, the 5-foot-9 combo guard might suffer college overlooking due to his height.
Remember DaVae Hughley (East Hamilton) talked about LM-DII recruiters way back in September.
Senior Brandon Thomas (Blackman) talked recruiting with @PrepHoopsTN two weeks back. He is an ideal DII wing forward. Thomas boasts two NAIA offers, one from Bryan College and another courtesy of Huntington University (AL). But when he floats away from the basket his true potential gets unveiled.
JC Clausi of Father Ryan has the steadiness college coaches require. He doesn’t turn the ball over and generally makes smart decisions in halfcourt sets.
Formerly a DI prospect, James Franklin Jr. (Siegel) had a poor December. With his length and capacity to score, the wing should be on DII radars.
