Dayton Conference Races

The conference races are heating up and with a few weeks left in the season, several teams have already positioned themselves as champions, while others will use these last few games to determine their fate. Here is a look at some of the conference races as we come down to the wire on this season.
GWOC North– Butler currently is sitting at 9-2 while Sidney is right behind them at 8-3. A February 13th matchup between the two could determine who wins the conference, but with Butler still having a matchup with Tippecanoe, the race could solely come down to the Feb 13th matchup.
GWOC South– Trotwood-Madison currently is atop the league at 11-0 and likely has the league title wrapped up. Xenia is right behind at 6-3 but the race may already be over. Unless Trotwood loses their last 4 league games, Xenia really has no shot.
GWOC East– Wayne is in 1st with a 9-0 record while Springfield is right behind at 8-1. The Wildcats have another matchup with Wayne and will likely determine the league title.
GWOC West- Miamisburg sits ahead with a ½ game lead over Lebanon currently. Both teams have a rematch that will determine the league title, but Miamisburg also has a matchup with Centerville that could tip the scales either way.
GCL– The Falcons have a 2 game lead over Carroll currently. Fenwick has already played Carroll twice and defeated them, but the Patriots still have their two matchups with Chaminade-Julienne which means the battle for 2nd place is still up for grabs.
CBC Kenton– Jonathan Alder (8-1) and Shawnee (7-2) have matchups with each other at the top of the conference. In 3rd and 4th are Kenton Ridge and Bellefontaine both at 6-3. The battle for the conference title will come down to the end of the season with these 4 teams.
CBC Mad River– Urbana is sitting in the driver’s seat with Indian Lake right behind them at 4-5. The Hillclimbers split the regular season series with the Lakers and are my favorites to win the title.
SWBL Buckeye– Madison is in the lead with an 8-1 record and are the favorites down the stretch. Preble Shawnee and Northridge are in 2nd and 3rd with a 6-2 record. The Mohawks have already defeated both teams once and currently are on an 11 game winning streak.
SWBL Southwestern– Franklin is 7-1 and in the driver’s seat in the conference. Bellbrook is right behind at 5-2 and likely will finish as they have a tougher schedule to end the season.
OHC North– West Jefferson and West Liberty-Salem are tied at 9-3 and are in control of the conference currently. I am taking WL Salem as the favorite in the conference.
OHC South– There’s not much to say in this conference race. Catholic Central is 9-1 and in the lead, while second place is Greeneview with an 8-4 record. The Irish have been the more dominant team since the beginning of the season and I don’t see that changing soon.
Dayton City League– Dunbar is in the lead with a 6-1 record, while Belmont is right behind them at 4-1. The Bison have another matchup with Dunbar that will determine the league title, however they still have to play Ponitz twice that could challenge Belmont.
SCAL– Fort Loramie and Russia are in the lead at 7-1 with Anna right behind them at 7-2. This is the most intriguing race in the area as all 3 are considered legitimate contenders. The Redskins are my favorites but don’t be surprised if Anna gives them a fight.
MBC– Troy Christian is 9-1 and in the lead, Dayton Christian is 7-2 and Legacy Christian is behind at 6-3. The Knights have been battling injuries which is why they’ve fallen back, but even with a healthy roster they will struggle to compete with a talented Troy Christian team.
CCC– Bethel is undefeated at 10-0 and is likely the winners this year. Franklin-Monroe has picked up the pace and are sitting in 2nd at 7-1.
