Cobb County Polls (1/28) Part 2
Take a look at Cobb County’s 5-9 squads in this week’s polls.
5. Campbell (Smyrna, GA) 15-7
Big blow to this Campbell Spartans team this week as their leading scorer 2019 point guard Terrell Burden suffered a knee injury during their matchup against Pebblebrook last Tuesday night. The good news is that he can come back in maybe a week or so, but it is no telling if he will be fully 100 percent. The Spartans have lost 3 out of their last 4 games after going on a 9 game winning streak. Only two games left for Campbell this week and they are big region games and can determine their seeding for the tournament. The Spartans will travel to Newnan Tuesday night and host Westlake Friday night. Campbell currently sits at #4 in Region 2 class 7A behind Wheeler Westlake and Pebblebrook.
6. Kennesaw Mountain (Kennesaw, GA) 15-5
Kennesaw Mountain has been the most improved team so far for Cobb County this season. After only winning a total of 10 games last season, the Mustangs have won a total of 15 and are currently on a 5 game winning streak since their lost to McEachern on January 11th. No question that 2018 guard Josh Strong and 2019 wing Jalyn McCreary have been the engine for this team. Strong and McCreary make a dynamic duo and are both in the top 5 in scoring in Cobb County. Kennesaw will have a tough last week as they will play back to back to back games. Coach Bonner and his squad will travel to Marietta Monday night, McEachern the next, and host neighborhood rival North Cobb Wednesday night. Kennesaw will end their week two nights later as they travel to North Cobb before the region tournament next week.
7. Sprayberry (Marietta, GA) 13-8
It definitely was a tough week for the Yellow Jackets last week as they went 1-3. The Jackets took losses to Dalton, Creekview, and Pope. Sprayberry currently sits at #3 in Region 6 class 6A and will be tested once again this week as they still have to travel to Allatoona this Friday night, who sits at #4 in the region, and will host South Cobb Saturday night, who sits right at #5 in the region.
8. South Cobb (Austell, GA) 13-8
The Eagles will be battling for a top 4 region spot as the region tournament approaches. South Cobb goes 2-2 last week and took two close losses to Creekview, who is #1 in Region 6 class 6A. They will be hosting Dalton this Tuesday night, who is currently #2 in the region, and will be traveling to Sprayberry Saturday night, who is currently #3 in the region.
