Clinton vs James Kenan Recap
This game began with both teams getting off to a slow start but before the end of the first quarter, Clinton HS began to make a run and would go into halftime with a decent lead. The 2nd half belonged to Clinton HS as well, even though the James Kennan squad would make some runs, The Dark Horses of Clinton would maintain control and get the win 88-65.
Clinton HS Junior Forward Xavier Howard: Howard is a nice looking prospect, he’s about 6’5-6’6 with a strong build but can score the ball at a high percentage. In this matchup he knocked down the deep ball well and got to his spots that he wanted without much difficulty, he finished with 15 points.
Clinton HS Senior Wing Zion Autry: His jump shot can still use some tweaking but he brings the physicality and athleticism that college programs like to see. JUCO programs should give him a look as he could be a player that could possibly go to a D2 JC and be an immediate contributor.
James Kenan HS Senior Forward Jareem Lovette: In the first half he was pretty quiet offensively but he rebounded the ball well and made some good plays for others. The 4th quarter was where he made his highest impact, he constantly got to the basket and made some plays above the rim finishing with 14 points.
Clinton HS Senior Wing Dewan Lesense: This youngster is a high flyer with a very high motor, he made plays above the rim on both ends of the floor and got his squad amped up to play. His position at the next level is a question mark but there is no doubt about it, he can play at college program.
James Kenan HS Junior Guard Darryl McCaster: He has a smooth game and the ability to score the ball in bunches, he’s the leading scorer on their squad and it doesn’t take long to see why. He can shoot the deep ball, attack the basket, and makes difficult moves look easy.
James Kenan HS Senior Forward/Center Biran Boi: His team needed some production inside the paint and he did a solid job of providing that for them. He finished well inside through contact and played some decent interior defense against the Clinton HS.
Clinton HS Senior Guard Kris Williams: The Point Guard for a team that wants to compete for a championship, has to be the type of player that is level headed throughout everything and that’s what Kris brings to the table. He is a skilled player that can flat out shoot it, but he also does a great job of staying level headed and being a coach on the court for his teammates.
Clinton HS Senior Forward/Center Trevor Leggett: A program at the D3 or D2 level looking for a 6’7 player with upside should take a look at him. Although his body and skillset aren’t fully there yet, he has a nice amount of upside to go along with a soft touch. He scores around the basket but can step out and shot the midrange and deep ball at a solid rate.
