There is a great level of excitment in Northern California because of the young talent coming up. The class of 2021 has many players that are showing a lot of potential, and are determined to become high level prospects over the next three years. It can be hard to predict how players will pan out as most freshmen are only 14 or 15 years old, but their ability and basketball IQ is definletly something to keep an eye out for. Here are 10 freshmen to look out for in Nor-Cal.

*This list is not an official ranking

Jeremiah Jones PG 5’8′ – Wood HS

This is one player that plays the game like a senior. He plays with a lot of confidence and has potential to be a scoring point guard who is also a floor general.

Isaac Montgomery PG 5’7′ – Vanden HS

He is a tough strong point guard. Even though he is undersized, he has upperclassmen strength. Montgomery plays really good on-ball defense and jumps really well.

Taj Phillips PG 5’8′ – Bishop Odowd HS

He may be the player that will look to take over at Bishop ODowd once Elijah Hardy is off to the University of Washington. He has a great overall feel for the game.

Jarin Edwards F 6’1′ – Bishop Odowd HS

Another freshman at Bishop Odowd that will be a part of the rebuilding process. Edwards is a good athlete and has a high basketball IQ. He will be somebody to definitely keep an eye on.

Ryan Moore F 6’3′ – Salesian HS

Ryan has good size, and is learning a lot quickly playing for the number 5 team in the country. He runs the floor well and has potential to be one of the top players in Nor-Cal once he develops.

Houston Mallette G 6’3′ – Salesian HS

A solid athlete who has great size for a freshman. He could be one of the best young combo guards in the Bay Area. His growth as a player will be something to watch for over the next three years.

Mike Mitchell G 6’3′ – Archbishop Mitty HS

Mike is a scorer that can shoot from the outside. He has potential to be the number one player out of the 2021 class. He has a great feel for the game, and doesn’t play like a freshman.

Lucky Hampton G 6’1′ – Salesian HS

Lucky is a part of a wave of young talent at Salesian. He plays bigger than his 6’1′ frame, and his ball handling and shooting has improved a lot over the past few months. He will be an important piece to Salesian’s future.

Juwelle Jack G 5’9′ – Vallejo HS

Juwelle is a solid scorer who slashes to the basket well, and finishes strong at the rim. He is still working to improve his outside shot, but has shown growth in his game over the past month. He has potential to be one of the top players in the Northern Bay Area.

Gabe Patrick G 6’1′ – St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS

Gabe has a will to be great, and his work ethic shows that. He is a long guard who can create his own shot, and get to the rim. He also has potential of becoming an excellent defender due to his long wingspan.
