The Catch-Up: More Milestones and Offers
I’m not sure if this is a truly special year for high school basketball in Kentucky or if I’m just following it closer than ever these days. It seems as though the 2018 class is racking up offers and kids in 2018 and 2019 are hitting career milestones every other day. Here are some of the recent milestones and offers that have occurred in the last couple of weeks of 2017.
- 2016 Waggener graduate Jaalam Hill committed to Cleveland State. Hill has been playing at the junior college level for the last two years.
- Covington Catholic Senior Shooting Guard and Iowa signee CJ Fredrick scored his 1,000th career point last week.
- Pendleton County Junior Dontaie Allen scored his 2,000th career point last week at the Traditional Bank Classic in Lexington.
- Webster County Senior Guard Chatman Ellis scored his 1,000th point over the weekend.
- Paris’ Senior Guard Eric Johnson scored his 1,000th career point against Estill County.
- John Hardin F Mickey Pearson scored a career high 47 points at the Lake Cumberland Christmas Classic over the weekend.
- Saint Xavier Senior Forward Pierce Kiesler scored his 1,000th point for the Tigers in their last game of 2017.
- Bellevue’s Brett Maehren logged career point number 1,000 in the JBR/Straight Edge Construction Holiday Tournament.
- Pikeville signee and Newport star Mekell Burries scored his 1,000th point and hit a game winner in the Apollo Invitational in Owensboro.
- Our reigning player of the week Logan Thomas scored career point number 1,000 at Union County last week.
- Corbin’s Andrew Taylor scored his 3,000th point last week in a big win. He recently collected his 1,000th rebound also. Taylor will enroll at Furman for his college basketball career.
- Paducah Tilghman’s JJ Reed was offered by Georgetown College and Campbellsville University last week.
- Reed’s teammate Trey Workman was also offered by Campbellsville University.
- Motlow State Junior College offered Bowling Green’s Jarius Key.
- Kentucky Wesleyan offered Bryan Station’s Senior Guard Eric Boone.
- 2017 Russellville graduate Pedro Bradshaw transferred from Belmont to Eastern Kentucky.
