The Breakdown: Owasso vs Tulsa Edison
From the start of the semifinal matchup between Owasso and Edison in the Port City Classic, it was not close. Owasso started strong and never looked back. The Rams were up on the Eagles after one quarter by seven and then a strong second quarter propelled them into a huge 21-point halftime lead. In the second half it was smooth sailing from the Rams as they stretched their lead to more than 30.
The Streak
Owasso is now on an impressive 10-game win streak. They have not dazzled and awed people during this streak, they just win. The Rams have grinded out wins against opponents and have done so as a team. They do not necessarily have a star on their team. They just buy into what their coach is selling and give it their all. This streak is even more impressive as Owasso has done it without the athletic football star and Ohio State commit (football), Josh Proctor. The streak will be put to its toughest test yet as Owasso takes on a very good Victory Christian team that just knows how to win.
Jake Thompson 2018 Owasso Guard
Thompson was on fire for the Rams tonight. In the system that Owasso runs not one player is the focus of the offense. Thompson had the hot hand tonight and so Owasso gave him the ball. Thompson was the spark for the Rams as he led the team. He played really well on the offensive end of the court finishing with a game-high 24 points.
Hayden Peterson 2019 Owasso Guard
Peterson enjoyed himself tonight against Edison. Peterson found himself left open on the wing on multiple occasions and shot the ball well. He was in his niche in the Ram’s offense and was stroking the ball when left open. Peterson is one of many Owasso guards who can shoot the ball well and he proved it tonight as he finished with 18 points in this semifinal matchup.
Savion Morrison 2020 Tulsa Edison Guard
Morrison was bright for the struggling eagles tonight. He found his game in the second half as the Eagles started to play better. Morrison was able to attack the basket drawing contact on multiple occasions and finishing at the rim well. He finished with 12 points on the night. The Eagles have been inconsistent all year. They have talent and have played well at points throughout the year, but they cannot seem to put it all together. Edison is a team you do not want to face in the postseason because on any given day they pull of an upset.
