Best Unsigned Seniors in NC
With the class of 2018 mostly signed or committed, PrepHoopsNC takes a look at the remaining unsigned seniors in the class.
Jairus Hamilton (6’7, SF) Cannon School-Hamilton is a high-major prospect that showed off his improved three-point shot at The Chick-Fil-A Classic in Columbia, South Carolina just before Christmas. He was named to the all-tournament team and played well all week showing his versatile game and new and improved shooting. He is big enough to get into the paint and battle with the big guys or he can step out and knock down jump-shots. He is reportedly down to Boston College, NC State, Villanova, Mississippi State and Maryland. According to 247.com, Maryland is leading for Hamilton.
Malik Johnson (6’1, PG) Terry Sanford-VCU, Western Carolina and Rhode Island are three of the schools that have offered Johnson who has missed most of his senior season with a leg injury. He is scheduled to return to the starting line-up this month. His game is a scoring guard and he is very athletic, has a quick first step and can get into the paint.
Milos Stajcic (6’8, F) Freedom Christian-Has the size and strength to play on the next level, he has the ability to score the ball in the post and can score if out on wing with a skillset that is more on the European side for big men. He has a college ready body and should be on recruiting radars even more come this spring.
Ody Oguama (6’9, F) Cardinal Gibbons-Oguama has the ability to defend, rebound, and protect the rim; he can get to the rim with ease, He is very athletic for his size and can play above the rim or can use his soft touch below the rim, he has a high motor and can run the floor very well. His offers include James Madison, Radford, New Hampshire, Coppin State, Gardner-Webb, Winthrop, Norfolk State, Winthrop, UNC-Asheville, North Carolina Central and Coastal Carolina.
Kalil Baker (6’3, G) Rocky Mount Prep-Baker is averaging around 32 points per game for his senior season. He is a shooter. He can move well without the ball to get open off of screens and cuts to set up his shot. He is player with a high basketball IQ and understands the game. He has a good handle with the ball in his hands. He needs to improve on the defensive side of the ball to start gaining some major traction.
Isaiah Pruett (5’9. PG) Reynolds HS- Pruett is averaging almost 27 points per game so far this season for Reynolds HS. He gets the majority of his points from the free-throw line and uses that as a means of scoring points. He can get into the paint with ease and defenses have no option other than fouling or letting him score. He is a decent three-point shooter who can get hot at times.
Cameron Whiteside (6’4, PG) Thomasville HS-Whiteside is a walking double-double and is leading Thomasville this season at 25 points and 11 rebounds per game. He is a guard with good size at 6-foot-4 and can see over defenses to make the easy pass or to get his shot off.
