In our final look at the latest 2018 class rankings we dive into the group of post prospects that would be quality small college big men making an impact at the D3 or NAIA levels.

C Mick Sullivan (Marmion Academy)

Current Ranking: #66
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves

At 6’9” he has a strong build and plays with physicality.  Not a great athlete, but has solid footwork.  Sullivan can step out and hit a mid-range jumper every once in a while.  He especially likes the one from 15 foot on the baseline.  The Marmion Academy post is an outstanding rebounder.  Improving skill on the block including a jump hook.  He rebounds both inside and out of his area.  Tough offensive rebounder that fights and claws for second chance opportunities.

PF Caleb Strohmeier (Edwardsville)

Current Ranking: #70
Travel Team: Jets-Ramey United

Strohmeier is a 6’6” face up four man that can stretch the floor with his shooting.  Works well as a pick and pop big man that can screen and fade to the spot to get his shot off.  Can post up on occasion scoring with a quick move.  Also gets on the glass for put backs.  Not a guy that can put the ball on the deck more than a couple dribbles, but with his toughness and shooting he would be an ideal get for a small college program!

C Tyler Joest (Breese Central)

Current Ranking: #75
Travel Team: Gateway Illinois

Joest is a skilled face up post that stretches the floor with his perimeter shooting.  Very effective in the pick and pop hitting shots with ease.  The Breese Central senior can really stroke it with a quick trigger and high release point.  Definitely going to be a face up shooting big man at the next level, but shows some athleticism handling it some off the bounce from 18 feet and in.  Improving athlete that will need to add significant strength at the next level.  He is a priority small college post prospect.

C Joey Saracco (Bolingbrook)

Current Ranking: #79
Travel Team: SYF

Good frame at 6’7” and knows his role on the team.  Rebound, play defense, and when they pass you the ball in the paint put it in.  Saracco has soft hands and touch around the hoop.  Efficient player with his touches.  Hits short jumpers and finishes dump off passes.  Area rounder snatching anything near him.  Not overly athletic.

PF Jack Sorenson (Wheaton North)

Current Ranking: #80
Travel Team: Mercury Elite

Sorenson can score with his back to the basket and is efficient with his touches.  Soft touch around the hoop.  Pick and pop ability and has solid mobility for a four man.  Quality D3/NAIA prospect.

PF Jacob Hall (Alton Marquette)

Current Ranking: #84
Travel Team: Gateway Illinois

Hall has good size and mobility at 6’7”.  Excellent area rebounder that snatches boards with his strong hands.  Versatile offensive threat.  Hall has expanded his game to where he is now a legit threat in the pick and pop game shooting it.  Good screener that can both pop and roll to the hoop.  Strong hands catching passes in traffic and finishes with a soft touch around the rim.  Seals in the high/low game.  Solid passer out of the post.

PF Blake Weiss (Mascoutah)

Current Ranking: #86
Travel Team: Jets-Ramey United

Weiss is a skilled face up four man that has some athleticism to his game.  He can handle it off the bounce and hit pick and pop shots.  At times he plays a bit out of control, but the small college that can harness that will get a real nice player.  Presents developmental upside for a D3 or NAIA program to get a potential star for their level.

PF Jordan Morris (Proviso East)

Current Ranking: #88
Travel Team: Kessel Heat

Morris is built like a truck with tremendous strength and an NFL defensive lineman’s body.  He consistently plays with an all-out motor.  Goes hard every second he is out on the floor.  He is best using is athleticism and toughness in transition finishing above the rim.  Also plays strong on the glass.  Not an overly skilled prospect he relies on his physical gifts and explosiveness.  Game might be best suited for the JUCO level.
