Battle of the Classes: Holland Hall vs East Central
In the 7th place game at the Jenks/Union Invitational Holland Hall and East Central played a game down to the wire. The Dutch never looked like losing. They were the more talented team on the night but just could not find their way over that hump to close out the game. Late in the fourth quarter the Cardinals even took the lead for a moment. Then the Dutch hit a deep three to take the lead back and never lost it after that. East Central had their chances but did not foul when they trailed by only one until there was only one second left on the clock. The Dutch would hit their preceding free throws and won the game 50-47.
Brock Davis 2020 Holland Hall Post
Davis was a beast on the defensive end of the court today. He had a multitude of blocks against East Central and forced East Central to play around him. The Cardinal’s post could not do much because of the presence of Davis. While the offensive part of his game is still raw, Davis still has his impact on the other side of the court as well. He draws fouls on the offensive end and is a consistent free-throw shooter. Davis finished with 11 points on the day.
Mason Lee 2019 Holland Hall Guard
Lee had the hot hand from deep for the Dutch. The Dutch were running their offense and kept finding Lee open on the wing for the three. Lee was also clutch from the free-throw line late. He sunk his free throws to seal the victory against East Central. Lee finished the game with a game-high 13 points.
Markiel Brown East Central Guard
Brown kept East Central in the game. The Cardinals were all but dead to their rights in the first half until Brown started getting hot. He used his speed to blow past defenders and get to the rim for the easy basket. He played tight defense and had active hands always looking for the steal. He was the best player for a struggling East Central team. Brown finished the game with a team high 10 points.
The Shot Hear Around the Gym
On one of the very few occasions that Holland Hall trailed in this game, a clutch play was made by Garrett Eaton 2020 Holland Hall Guard. Eaton pulled up from around 25 feet out and drained a contested 3-pointer. The shot was made over two East Central defenders and gave the Dutch a lead they would not relinquish. Eaton finished the night with 11 points.
