This past Saturdays Uptown Hoopfest was a great success. There were many excellent former players in attendance such as Byron Mouton (U of MD), Mike Sweetney (Georgetown, NBA), current Hoyas: Jamarko Pickett (Eastern HS. Massunutten Military) & Antwan Walker (HD Woodson, Hargrave Military). Many of the teams consisted of players with underprivileged backgrounds. I must applaud the Coaches, High Schools & players for their politeness & dedication to improve off & on the court. There was a very nice crowd in attendance in this very organized event by More Than Basketball. We had a great PA announcer, concessions, security, & music. The next article will cover games 4 thru 7.
