The Lakewood Gators came into the 3rd Annual Crescent Construction MLK Bash a underdog to York Prep. The Gators looked overwhelmed in the first half going into the break down 23-13.
The Gators slowly climbed back into the game and trailed just 36-34 with 5:02 left when DJ Burns (2019) fouled out for York Prep. Deuce Dean (2019) came down the floor and connected on a 3 point play for the Patriots to make the lead at 41-34 with 2:40 left in the game. The Patriots would hold on for the 48-40 victory over the Lakewood Gators.

Williams was a absolute man today in the paint. Williams plays strictly 2 feet and in it seems. Williams tries to DUNK everything in site. Williams a Kinston, NC native reminds me of Antonio McDyess. Williams finished with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Williams plays with a bit of edge and a great motor on the floor. Williams isn’t afraid to chat it up on both ends of the floor. Equally impressive is that Williams is a very talented football player that can play WR/DE/LB on the gridiron. Williams is a very unique talent on the floor.
Best Guy Under the Radar : Grant Singleton (2018) Lakewood
Singleton is a heady and crafty point guard for the Gators. Singleton comes off ball screens and can get to the basket to finish. Singleton the reigning Region Player of the Year from last season finished with 11 points and 4 assists. Singleton currently has scored over 1,100 career points and has received NCAA D2 interest.
Junior College : Ahkeem Lawson (2018) Lakewood
Lawson a left-handed post player has been playing better lately after hitting a rut before Christmas Holiday. Lawson can hit the 10-12 footer or finish over his shoulder down in the paint. Lawson according to the coaching staff will need to entertain junior college options for next season.
Juniors Galore : DJ Burns, Deuce Dean, Juwan Perdue
This talented trio all find themselves in the Prep Hoops Top 15 of the 2019 class. Burns a left-handed post fouled out with 5:02 in the game and scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. South Carolina Head Coach Frank Martin was in attendance watching Burns play.
Dean has really filled out after transferring in from Dutch Fork HS. Dean a highly touted guard finished with 6 points today for the Patriots.
Perdue has started to show glimpses of what type of player he can be for the Gators. Perdue likes to really stalk the baseline when given the opportunity. Perdue finished with 7 points in the loss today.
