The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets fended off the Hammond Skyhawks to win at the 3rd Annual Crescent Construction MLK Bash at Eau Claire on Monday 42-38.
MVP : Tevaughn Higgins (2018) Lower Richland HS
Higgins came off the bench today to spark the Diamond Hornets with 16 points and 4 rebounds. Higgins 6’4 a quarterback on the gridiron finished around the cup. Higgins will take a football visit to North Carolina A&T in the near future.
Best Small College Prospect : Lucas Prickett (2018) Hammond
Prickett is just productive whenever on the basketball court. Prickett won’t wow you with athleticism but is just very productive. Prickett a 3-sport athlete had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Prickett recorded over 60 receptions for the State Championship Football Team and also is a heck of a soccer player.
Best Freshman : Korey Richardson (2021) Lower Richland
Richardson starts and sees a lot of minutes for the Diamond Hornets. Richardson a left-handed guard slashes to the cup or pops the mid-range jumper. Richardson has really good length t defend the passing lanes and got on the floor plenty of times today for loose balls.
Best Prospect : Jordan Burch (2020) Hammond
Burch is a physically gifted young man. Burch tends to overpower players inside-out on the floor. Burch a big-time football prospect has a bright future for both sports. Burch can handle the rock up the floor and finished today with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Burch is currently ranked #4 in the Prep Hoops 2020 Class.

Christian Brown (2019) the #1 player in the 2019 Palmetto State Rankings didn’t play and wasn’t anywhere in the building for the Diamond Hornets. Brown has been out since late December 2017 with a injury. Brown according to reports has recently taken unofficial visits to Georgia, Clemson and UNLV.
Damajae Hicks was a pleasant surprise today from the Diamond Hornets. Hicks 6’7 runs the floor very well and just seemed to be a junk yard dog at times on the floor. Hicks finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds in the victory.
The Skyhawks back court of Cleo Canty and Isaiah Washington both finished with 6 points.
