2019 Wesleyan Christian G Drew Greene talks junior season, recruitment and more
Any college looking for a high IQ, hard working sharpshooter should take a peek at Drew Greene’s game.
The 6’3″, 180-pound Wesleyan Christian junior guard is a crafty player.
Greene holds one offer currently from Campbell. However, he has a slew of interest which include the likes of Columbia, Presbyterian, VMI, Kent State, Holy Cross, Princeton, Davidson, Mt. St. Mary’s, ECU, American, Citadel and High Point.
In terms of what he says he took away the most as a sophomore was this.
“I learned that when you play national teams you have to be prepared every play,” Greene told Prep Hoops North Carolina. “There is so much talent that one bad possession can mean losing the game. From our team, I learned that we have a lot of heart and drive when it came to winning close games.”
Greene pointed to his defense as something that has grown this season.
“I got a chance to cover some of the best guards in the country,” he said. “I did not win every battle but most of the time I held my own and kept them from scoring.”
He’s hoping his group can win the state tournament and get a chance to play at Dick’s Nationals. He pointed to 2018 forwards Aaron Wiggins, a Maryland commit and Jaylen Hoard, a Wake Forest as talented leaders.
Last year, Greene played up with the 17U High Point Havoc. He says it was a good season overall, but he plans to play with Big Shots Elite in a few months, a program led by Mark Adams.
In terms of his biggest strengths, he pointed to his defense and passing. Greene says he wants to continue to work on his shot and get his handles more consistent.
This is a kid filled with basketball savvy. He never stops trying to get better and is really fun to watch basketball. He’ll take the next step as a senior with Hoard and Wiggins off to college soon, but for, now he’s learning his role and making the most of each and every opportunity.
